The challenge

Compliance on paper is not the same as effectiveness in prevention and detection

Meeting the rule does not guarantee effectiveness

Laws, decrees, resolutions, procedures and mechanisms are indispensable, but not enough. The real challenge is showing that the system identifies and understands its risks, manages them properly, works in practice and produces effective results.

We work to close that gap: we identify where technical compliance does not translate into effectiveness and help countries and institutions strengthen capabilities, implement improvements and produce demonstrable results.

How we work

Four solutions to turn FATF standards into effective results

01
Risk assessments

National and sectoral ML/TF/PF risk assessments

We develop assessments to identify and understand a country's or sector's ML/TF/PF threats, vulnerabilities and risks, and turn the results into concrete action priorities.

02
Public policy

National AML/CFT/CPF policies

We design national policies and strategies based on identified risks, with objectives, priorities and actions aimed at strengthening prevention, detection, investigation and prosecution.

03
Mutual evaluations

Support through Mutual Evaluation processes

We support countries before, during and after their Mutual Evaluations, strengthening technical compliance, effectiveness and the institutional capacity to demonstrate results with evidence.

04
Targeted financial sanctions

National TFS freezing drills

We design and run national TFS freezing drills, through tabletop exercises and unannounced drills, to test the country's real capacity to identify designated persons and entities, apply freezing measures without delay and effectively activate coordination between reporting entities and competent authorities.
